Islip is both a town and a hamlet within the town of the same name. The town of Islip encompasses four villages, many hamlets and Fire Island. Islip has three state parks within its boundaries: Heckscher State Park, Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park and Connetquot River State Park Preserve. Many Islip communities are located on Fire Island, the beautiful beaches of which draw many seasonal visitors.
The picturesque hamlet of Islip has many attractions of its own. Main Street features a shopping district filled with boutiques, hairdressers, pubs and many other attractions. Islip hamlet is also a place of celebration. Annually, the hamlet sponsors the Main Street Festival, a Memorial Day Parade, Trick of Treat on Main Street at Halloween and many other holiday celebrations. Islip’s small town charm and proximity to the beaches and wineries of Long Island make it a wonderful place to visit.
